The Traffic Engineering Division enhances safety and mobility for pedestrians and vehicles on all of City of Pittsburg roadway network. The Division coordinates and works collaboratively with Public Works, Community Development, Pittsburg Police Department, Planning Department, Development, Pittsburg Unified School District, and residents.  

Responsibilities consists of:

• Manage 64 traffic signals
• Review, design, and implement enhancements to pedestrian and bike infrastructure facilities
• Review street designs
• Evaluate streetlights and speed hump requests
• Manage traffic control devices (such as traffic signals, signs, and speed humps)
• Evaluate and provide traffic calming on roadway network
• Review transportation impact related items concerning new development projects
