The Pittsburg Promise Community Scholarship aims to encourage young adults to pursue higher education in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) fields by alleviating some financial burden of obtaining a bachelor's degree for eligible young adults residing in the City of Pittsburg, and for eligible dependents of City employees.

The 2026 Pittsburg Promise Scholarship application period will open on January 1, 2026 and close on May 31, 2026.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Current Pittsburg resident; OR a dependent of current City of Pittsburg employee (employee must belong to a Represented Employee Group). Dependents are 25 years or younger

  • Accepted into a bachelor's degree program with a declared major in a STEAM field including:
    • Current high school student accepted into a bachelor's degree program to study STEAM
    • High school graduate accepted into a bachelor's degree program to study STEAM
    • GED recipient accepted into a bachelor's degree program to study STEAM
    • Current bachelor's degree program student studying STEAM

    Graduate students do not qualify

  • 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
  • Complete application submitted by the annual application deadline
