RED CARDS:
Worried about what to say if approached by immigration officers? Red Cards inform you of your rights. You can hand one to an officer in public or slide it under your door if they knock. Do not open the door unless they have a valid warrant.

YOUR RIGHTS DURING AN ICE RAID:
ICE or CBP agents can be intimidating, however, don't let this get to you. You still have rights as an undocumented person.
- STAY CALM- Officials advise against being aggressive, instead, remain calm and collected.
- STAY SILENT- You have the right to remain silent and ask for an attorney. Don't be afraid to exercise these rights.
- ASK IF YOU'RE BEING DETAINED- Politely ask if you're being detained. If not, excuse yourself from the encounter. If so, remain calm.
- AVOID SIGNING DOCUMENTS- Avoid signing anything if you are not sure you understand it, ask for an attorney.
- SEEK LEGAL ASSISTANCE- It is crucial you seek legal assistance, an immigration attorney can go over your case and let you know what rights you have.
HOME VISITS:
ICE or CBP can show up at your house-just remember your rights.
- ASK FOR A WARRANT- Politely ask for a warrant. Ask for it to be slid under your door or put by a window. Ensure it has been signed by a judge and your address is correct.
- IF NO WARRANT, REFUSE ENTRY- If an ICE agent does not have a warrant, you have the right to refuse entry to your home and that you do not consent to the search. Be polite, but firm.
- REMAIN CALM- Having a calm, clear mind can help with processing your emotions during this hard time.
- DOCUMENT THE INCIDENT- Try to discreetly record or take notes about the incident. Document names, badge numbers, and physical appearances for possible use in the future.
- DO NOT GIVE FALSE INFORMATION- Be truthful, but remember, you have the right to remain silent.

- CALL YOUR FAMILY OR LAWYER- You have the right to make a phone call.
- CARRY A RED CARD- Hand it to officers to assert your rights.
- BE RESPECTFUL- Stay calm and do not resist.
REMEMBER- Your rights still apply, even if you are undocumented!

Even while undocumented, you still have a right to an education.
ALL CHILDREN IN CALIFORNIA:

◦ Must be enrolled in school if they are between 6 and 18 years old.
◦ Have the right to attend safe, secure, and peaceful schools.
◦ Have a right to be in a public school learning environment free from discrimination, harassment, bullying, violence, and intimidation.
◦ Have equal opportunity to participate in any program or activity offered by the school without discrimination.
