The Creating Healthy Communities Ordinances are adopted!

On June 2, 2025, the Pittsburg City Council adopted two ordinances as part of the City’s Creating Healthy Communities initiative which are now in effect. These updates support the City’s efforts to promote public health and safety, reduce youth access to tobacco and alcohol, address the impacts of smoking and secondhand smoke, establish clear operational standards for certain businesses, and ensure the Pittsburg Municipal Code remains consistent with State law.

Ordinance No. 25-1530:

Amends Titles 5, 8, 9, and 18 of the Pittsburg Municipal Code to:

• Revise requirements for a Tobacco Retailer License
• Limit smoking in specific locations
• Update the Social Host Ordinance
• Add requirements for cannabis businesses
• Ensure consistency with State law

Ordinance No. 25-1531:

Amends Title 18 of the Pittsburg Municipal Code by adding Article XXII to Chapter 18.84 to establish Alcohol Performance Standards.

Printed copies are available upon request from the Planning Division. A fee of $0.10 per page applies, consistent with the City’s Master Fee Schedule.
