What We Do
The Building Division proudly serves the public in five primary areas:

1. Public Information
We offer general info and technical guidance for construction projects of all sizes.

2. Permit Management
We manage every stage of the construction permit process—from intake to final inspection. This includes:

  • Public inquiries
  • Plan submittal & review
  • Permit issuance
  • Inspections
  • Document retention
  • Coordinate with other departments and outside agencies as needed.

3. Construction Inspection
We provide next-day inspections (yes, really!) to ensure your project meets local and state codes:

  • Building
  • Electrical
  • Mechanical
  • Plumbing
  • Disabled access
  • Energy efficiency
  • Monitor special inspections as required

4. Code Enforcement
We investigate code complaints and take action through:

  • Site inspections
  • Notices of violation
  • Citations (when needed)

We're part of the City’s Code Enforcement Team, working collaboratively to resolve community issues proactively.

5. Residential Rental Inspection
All rental units in Pittsburg must be registered and inspected.
We ensure properties meet safety standards through:

  • Property registration
  • Regular inspections
  • Correction notices & citations (when needed)
