Home MenuAccessory Dwelling Units
Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) and Junior Accessory Dwelling Units (JADUs) offer a variety of benefits. They help increase housing supply, provide an affordable housing option for low- and moderate-income residents, allow elderly and/or disabled persons live independently yet close to family members or caregivers, and benefit homeowners by providing extra income that can assist in mitigating the cost of living.
What is an ADU?
An Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) is a residential dwelling unit that is a self-contained living unit that is usually smaller than the main home on the same lot with a proposed or existing primary residence or multi-unit building. It contains a kitchen, bathroom, and a place to sleep. They can be attached to the main home or a separate detached building.
What is a JADU?
A Junior Accessory Dwelling Unit (JADU) is a residential unit that is contained within a single-family residence. The JADU can share a bathroom, but not a kitchen, within the primary residence to which it is attached.
