The City of Pittsburg is pleased to announce Dionne Adams as its new Mayor, bringing energy, leadership experience, and a passion for serving her hometown.  The City Council voted unanimously in favor on Monday, December 1.

Since her first term commencing in 2022, Mayor Adams has served several key City bodies, including the Community & Economic Development, Life Enrichment, and Infrastructure & Transportation subcommittees, where she has worked closely with the community, staff and local leaders to advance projects that support residents’ well-being.

“I am honored to take on this role and humbled by the trust our city has placed in me,” Mayor Adams said. “I believe in Pittsburg’s future, in the power of collaboration, in lifting up all parts of our community, and in keeping our momentum going.”

In addition to her city service, Mayor Adams represents Pittsburg on several regional and state boards, including the Bay Area Air District Board of Directors, the Tri-Delta Transit Board, where she serves as Vice Chair, and the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) Board. In these roles, she helps shape policies on clean air, equity and social justice, transportation, economic development, and regional planning.

After 3 years on City Council, Mayor Adams is ready to step into the Mayoral seat with a strategic and service-driven approach to governing.  “As mayor, I will stay focused on practical solutions and strong partnerships,” Adams said. “My priority is to ensure our city services remain efficient and responsive to present and future needs that are accessible to every resident.”

City Council members expressed strong support for Mayor Adams. Her long-standing devotion to the city, her patience, and her positivity that moves Pittsburg forward were all cited as key strengths of her leadership.

Mayor Adams, a Pittsburg native, has spent more than 20 years in public policy, operations, and community-focused work. In her professional career, she has also contributed to efforts that strengthen organizational culture, workforce development and broad community engagement, adding a valuable perspective to her public service.  Outside of her work, Mayor Adams enjoys staying active in the community and spending time with family and friends. She has a love for local arts and culture, enjoys exploring the natural beauty of the Bay Area, and is passionate about volunteering with programs that support youth and neighborhood initiatives.

The City Council also unanimously voted 5–0 to appoint Angelica Lopez as the new Vice Mayor, succeeding Adams in the role.
