FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Pittsburg, CA – The City of Pittsburg is proud to announce that Sir’Vante Jones, a dedicated and emerging leader from Pittsburg, has been selected as one of 18 inaugural My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Ambassadors nationwide. The MBK Alliance, an initiative launched by President Obama and the flagship program of the Obama Foundation, made this historic announcement on March 6, 2025.

The MBK Ambassadors program supports and uplifts young leaders that drive positive change in their communities. Selected from a national pool of exceptional candidates, Sir’Vante Jones will represent Pittsburg and advocate for solutions to create safer and more supportive environments, as well as other unique challenges facing boys and young men of color in Pittsburg and regionally. As an MBK Ambassador, Sir’Vante will receive leadership training, mentorship, and resources to advance his work in the community.

“I am proud to be selected as a member of the first cohort of the MBK Ambassadors program. I can’t wait to take my City along as I embark on this journey of change with my cohort of brothers,” said Sir’Vante Jones.

MBK launched in 2014 to address systemic barriers and expand opportunities for boys and young men of color. Since 2019, the City of Pittsburg and its City Council have been committed to this mission, and have made concerted efforts to create meaningful opportunities for local youth. Over the past decade, the MBK Alliance has reached millions of young people, fostering mentorship programs, workforce development initiatives, and violence prevention strategies. The newly announced Ambassadors will help continue this mission by amplifying their voices and driving change in their communities.

“We are incredibly proud of Sir’Vante Jones for being recognized on a national level. His passion for helping others and making a difference in the community is truly inspiring. This is a huge opportunity for him to grow as a leader, and we can’t wait to see all the great things he’ll accomplish,” said Kolette Simonton, City of Pittsburg Director of Recreation.

Sir’Vante Jones’ selection as an MBK Ambassador reflects the growing impact of Pittsburg’s young leaders in shaping a brighter, more equitable future. The City of Pittsburg extends its congratulations and support to Sir’Vante as he embarks on this prestigious leadership journey!
